Though she began her career at MB as a humble intern, Sarah Thirnbeck has since climbed the ranks to be the shop's Communications & Administrative Manager. Sarah is responsible for preparing all business development estimates and proposals for our prospects and clients. Using our new state-of-the-art project management software Function Point, she manages all of Marketing Breakthroughs' numerous ongoing projects. Sarah manages our ISO-style 160+ page MB handbook, which defines all of the processes and procedures that keep our staff and our projects on track. Sarah is an administrative whiz. Without her expertise, office confusion would increase 25.3% (she calculated).
Sarah also works on a variety of client files, executing marketing research studies, writing business reports, organizing photo shoots, special events, and more. As the event coordinator for the 11th Annual Ottawa Celebrity Sports Dinner, Sarah worked behind the scenes to make sure this Ottawa event, featuring over 100 of Canada's most well-known athletes, was a home run. The dinner's live and silent auctions raised thousands of dollars for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and the Ottawa Senators Foundation.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Arts degree with High Honours in Mass Communications, with a minor in Film Studies, and a Master of Arts degree in Communications, both from Carleton University. She successfully defended her thesis in August 2009 entitled "UnDeNiAble Risks: A Critical Discourse Analysis of the 23andMe Website." A Carleton Place native, Sarah has a pet Goldendoodle (that's a golden retriever-poodle mix) named Olly. She enjoys playing tennis and practicing yoga.
