Web Content Development - Holmes Heating
|
Challenge: Holmes Heating Inc., one of Ottawa's largest and most-trusted family-owned heating, cooling and air quality contractors, was looking to update the look, functionality and search engine optimization of its website.
The company's previous site was constructed in 2001. While state-of-the-art at the time, the site simply could not compete with modern websites as its structure and design were very outdated and the amount of content minimal.
The client needed a brand new website that would not only quickly and easily present its wide array of furnaces, air conditioners and other HVAC products and services, but also allow the online user to perform a variety of activities directly through the website such as requesting quotes, renewing maintenance plans and applying for financing.
Solution: Working with the team at Envision Online Media, Marketing Breakthroughs developed the overall structure and navigation of the new Holmes Heating website, conducting extensive best practices research to ensure the site plan met the needs of all of Holmes' target users, including existing customers, new customers and homebuilders / contractors. Marketing Breakthroughs then wrote the web copy for the new website.
The new site content features several new sections not found on the previous Holmes Heating site, including:
Expanded technical information about their products and services, including energy efficiency ratings (where applicable) and construction / installation details; News and events listings; Staff profiles; Careers page with job postings and the ability to submit a resume online; In-depth Customer Resources including FAQs, glossaries, troubleshooting guides and downloadable PDF user manuals; Easy-to-use online forms for contacting staff, requesting quotes and applying for financing; Quick Online Product Finder, which recommends the size and type of furnace or air conditioner for a user based on the size of their home; A new page dedicated to homebuilders and contractors, which allows them to submit a bid to Holmes for new residential home construction projects.
Results: The site was successfully launched in early June 2007. By mid-August, the site had already experienced a traffic increase of more than 30%.
